The acclaimed author of Love Lettering weaves a wise and witty new novel that echoes with timely questions about love, career, reconciling with the past, and finding your path while knowing your true worth.
Longtime personal assistant Georgie Mulcahy has made a career out of putting others before herself. When an unexpected upheaval sends her away from her hectic job in L.A. and back to her hometown, Georgie must confront an uncomfortable truth: her own wants and needs have always been a disconcertingly blank page.

But then Georgie comes across a forgotten artifact—a "friendfic" diary she wrote as a teenager, filled with possibilities she once imagined. To an overwhelmed Georgie, the diary's simple, small-scale ideas are a lifeline—a guidebook for getting started on a new path.

Georgie's plans hit a snag when she comes face to face with an unexpected roommate—Levi Fanning, onetime town troublemaker and current town hermit. But this quiet, grouchy man is more than just his reputation, and he offers to help Georgie with her quest. As the two make their way through her wishlist, Georgie begins to realize that what she truly wants might not be in the pages of her diary after all, but right by her side—if only they can both find a way to let go of the pasts that hold them back.

Honest and deeply emotional, Georgie, All Along is a smart, tender must-listen for everyone who's ever wondered about the life that got away . . .

Clayborn (Love at First) spins a gentle tale of two people who set out to find themselves and stumble into love along the way. Georgie Mulcahy is only back in her childhood hometown to help her best friend through the last few weeks of her pregnancy. At least, that’s what she’s telling herself. After losing her glamorous but grueling job as a celebrity personal assistant, Georgie’s no longer sure what she wants out of life. When she rediscovers her teenage diary, however, she’s reminded of a time when she knew just what would make her happy. Levi Fanning, meanwhile, spends his days trying to redeem himself in a small town that remembers his rebellious teen years all too well. When a series of flukes leaves him and Georgie as unexpected roommates, the now shy and disciplined Levi tries to keep a respectful distance—until he’s inevitably sucked into Georgie’s chaos. The two agree to work through Georgie’s high school bucket list, and chasing her teenage dreams helps them to find grown-up happiness. Readers shouldn’t expect a rom-com (there are few laughs here), but the smooth, vivid prose makes it easy to invest in the protagonists’ well-rendered character growth. This introspective romance is a treat. Agent: Taylor Haggerty, Root Literary.

Amelie Griffin and Alex Kydd narrate a story about second chances and new beginnings. When Georgie Mulcahy unexpectedly ends up back in her hometown after nearly a decade away, a chance encounter with Levi Fanning, former local bad boy, changes both their lives. While Georgie may feel that she's a mess and has no grasp on how to be an adult, Griffin's performance subtly changes as Georgie gains confidence and ultimately determines what she wants from life. Levi has distanced himself from almost everyone as a form of emotional self-defense, and Kydd's performance reflects Levi's constant struggle to connect. Together, both narrators deliver touching and nuanced performances of a love story that will resonate. K.M.P. © AudioFile 2023, Portland, Maine

Recently unemployed Georgie Mulcahy returns to her small Virginia hometown after her boss in LA decides she no longer needs a personal assistant. Georgie has mixed feelings about the town, but she's there to figure out who she is when she's not solving other people's problems. Georgie's parents' house would have been the perfect place to land if they hadn't lent it out to dock builder and former bad boy Levi Fanning and his adorable rescue pit bull Hank. Georgie tries to ignore ridiculously handsome Levi's grumpy frowns--all she wants to do is help her best friend Annabel settle into motherhood and check off some of the bucket-list items from their "friend fic" notebook. Levi has his own troubled past to overcome, but expansive, beautiful Georgie could be the one he's been looking for all along. Clayborn's (Love at First) latest lyrically written story is warmly narrated by Alex Kydd, who communicates Levi's tension and reserve, and Amelie Griffin, who allows Georgie's growing confidence to come through. VERDICT Lots of buzz for this book, combined with Clayborn's well-received backlist, makes this a must-purchase.
